Welcome to the Bay Area Chapter of Northern California's (BACNC's) website. We are a chapter of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), a non-profit organization. The BACNC was founded in June 1989, to promote the professional advancement of registered nurses practicing in a consulting capacity to the legal profession and to provide information on matters relating to nursing and health care.

We offer continuing education units, MCLEs and networking to Northern California Legal Nurse Consultants, Attorneys, and to others who are interested.

What Is A Legal Nurse Consultant?

·  Legal Nurse Consultants (LNCs) are nurses who specialize in reviewing and analyzing medical records, scientific literature, and other documents to assist in the resolution of litigation.

·  LNCs review claims of injury due to medical malpractice, work injuries, crimes, defective products, environmental exposure, and personal injury.

·  These registered nurses use their extensive health care experience and education to render informed opinions as to the merits, standards of care, causation, liability, damages, and strengths and weaknesses of legal cases.

BACNC Members

·  BACNC members include registered nurses who have experience in a variety of settings in acute care hospitals, outpatient services, long-term care, home health, occupational medicine, physicians' offices, risk management, and more.

·

Our members work with attorneys, insurance companies, risk management departments, and governmental agencies as in-house nurse consultants, independent legal nurse consultants, nurse-attorneys, and expert witnesses.

·

Presently, the BACNC has approximately 70 members who live throughout 11 Bay Area counties. However, most members live in San Francisco and its surrounding communities.

·  You can view our members experience and contact information thorough our Contact BACNC link.
